Back › Ticket help › Gift Aid on a donation
A UK government scheme that lets a charity or community organisation claim back the tax you've already paid on a donation. If you're a UK taxpayer, ticking the Gift Aid box adds 25p for every £1 you give, at no extra cost to you - the organisation claims it from HMRC, not from you.
HMRC requires it to identify you as the taxpayer making the declaration. It's used only for that declaration, and only passed to the organisation you're donating to so they can make the claim.
Just a donation. Gift Aid only applies to money given with nothing expected in return, and a ticket gets you into the event - so it doesn't qualify. If your order includes both a ticket and an optional donation, the Gift Aid box only covers the donation part.
Only tick the box if you're confident you pay enough UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax to cover the amount being claimed - the declaration you tick at checkout sets out exactly what you're confirming. If you're not sure, it's fine to leave the donation as it is without Gift Aid. To cancel a declaration you've already made, or ask a question about a specific claim, contact the organisation you donated to.
